The Higher Education Certificate in
Person Centred Approaches

About the course

• offer truly personalised support to vulnerable people at risk of exclusion
• empower the person they support
• empower themselves to deliver this quality support
• maximise the quality of life of the person they support

The course is run in partnership with Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and is recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council for workforce registration. The course is modular and takes place in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. It is possible to gain entry to the course without formal academic qualifications depending on your experience.

Who is the course for?

The course will be invaluable to anyone involved in supporting people at risk of exclusion,
this could include:

• People who are homeless
• People who have a mental health problem
• Older people
• People with learning disabilities or physical impairments
• Those released from prison
• People living in areas of deprivation etc.

Course structure

There are 13 modules (48 teaching days) run over 2 years, for a detailed look at these modules click on the link on this page to download a larger document or contact us directly.

Completion of all 13 modules will give you the full Higher Education Certificate in Person Centred Approaches. Alternatively, you can complete selected modules, either as underpinning knowledge for your chosen SVQ route, or for your Continuing Professional Development requirements.
