Values
Each person has his or her own gifts and strengths and has a unique contribution to make. Our task is to recognise, encourage and value these contributions.
Everyone can communicate. We will work hard to find ways to communicate with each other and will devote time and resources to this.
The person we support is the primary authority about themselves and their own life. The Thistle Foundation will provide support, service, knowledge and advice through its own staff and by working with others.
Diversity brings strength and we learn and grow by knowing one another. Our work will be structured to be inclusive and will actively support and work with others to develop an inclusive society in which diversity is highly valued.
Interdependence is the goal, not dependence or independence. Our services will be flexible, creative and innovative to meet the unique and changing needs of people we support and their families.
People work best in an environment which is challenging, rewarding and provides ongoing opportunities for personal and professional growth. We expect staff to continually reflect and learn from their own experiences.
